Like Me? A Journey into the Octopus Visual System

A Science Research Comic Written by Angelique Allen & Illustrated by Finn Hamilton

Driven by curiosity and built on purpose, this is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution. Let’s create something meaningful together.

Meet the writer Angelique Allen

Angelique is pursuing her PhD in neuroscience at the University of Oregon. She is interested in how the octopus brain creates an image of the world, or their visual processing. She believes that as a scientist, its part of her job to communicate her work to non-scientists, and this comic is one of the creative ways she shares her work with new communities.

Meet the illustrator Finn Hamilton

Finn is an artist and marine science undergraduate student at the University of Oregon. Finn’s interests focus on marine ecology, kelp forest restoration, and scientific illustration. They are thrilled to be connecting wider audiences to science with creative illustrations. When not in the intertidal zone, Finn likes to hike, knit, and read.
